More YWD!

Your Wedding Day Magazine has not only covered some of the best folks in the biz (okay so we are a bit bias with our bridal bar vendors), but they have also covered the cause close to my heart - Heart 4 Africa. YWD is bringing to light the kids' cause with a FOUR page article about our trip to Kenya this past spring. Thank you YWD! It means the world to more people than you know and will do a world of good! What to get your maids is always a challenge. We came across this cute little pink car kits that I know I'd love to have (if I knew how to use the tools that is). It comes complete with jumper cables, ice scraper, phone charger, protective gloves, insurance holder, flashlight and glass breaker. Because it's important to be fashionable when stranded on the side of the road. Room Service Home has lots of ideas for your gal pals, but this takes the cake!

E! - Carlafornia

The Bridal Bar has gone international - sort of :). We had a visit last week from E! Canada who was in town shooting a new reality show called "Carlafornia." The show follows a Canadian actress who moves to America and marries Hollywood royalty. Carla and crew came by for a visit and bit of green wedding planning. She LOVED the new and nearly new couture of Encore Bridal has to offer (and eco-friendly too)...Plus the organic, fresh lemon and other yummy flavors of Fantasy Frostings organic cake options. And who could forget Tic Tock eco-friendly arrangement...locally-grown organic blooms like echinacea, structured within a glass vase placed inside the wooden container (to avoid using oasis, a not-so earth-friendly floral product).Stay tuned, Carlafornia may be coming to E! in the states too!

Recap from Africa

Earlier this year I had the incredible pleasure of going to Kenya with twelve other event professionals to work in an orphanage and help better the lives of some amazing kids. And now the TV show on Lifetime, Get Married has honored the kids and our trip with a recap for their national audience. Thank you for helping spread the word about this incredible cause! I have soooo much respect for media outlets (especially bridal) that can think outside the box and share with their audiences something a bit different, but something that makes all the difference in the world!

NBC's Kath & Kim

The Bridal Bar and several of our fabulous vendors got to take part in an episode of a new sitcom coming to NBC this Fall. Kath & Kim is an Aussie comedy that's coming to the US starring Molly Shannon and Selma Blair. The show will air after The Office on Thursday nights starting October 9th so be sure to tune in! We were asked to consult on the show as a main topic throughout the first season is a wedding. We can't say much more than that just yet, but check out what you will see from The Bridal Bar in the second episode...and stay tuned to the show and our blog for all the fun bridal surprises!

Lips and Locks in Brides!

Congratulations to Sheree Pouls of Lips and Locks for being selected on a panel of beauty experts to weigh in on her favs for brides across the country. Her tips and trade secrets are currently running in all sixteen local market issues of Brides Magazine. Way to go!





What were some of her inside secrets? Sheree loves Tarte Cheek Stain to create that "dewy blushing bride" look that shows up great on film.

She also recommends not touching up with powder when you feel like you're getting a little greasy (it can actually make you worse by adding more oil to the skin). Instead use blotting paper to remove excess oil and avoid looking like a chalky mess.
