For those of you who don't know exactly what we do here in the store, we are a complimentary planning boutique. We offer totally free consultations to get you off to the right start toward your perfect big day. We don't charge a fee or take any mark up or commission, we simply guide you through the process, tell you it will be okay, and refer you to amazingly talented event professionals that fit your needs, style, and price point. How do we do it? Our vendors do pay us a flat annual fee to be represented by the brand, and those companies that participate are invited to do so, extensively reference checked and screened. We limit the number of professionals in each industry, varying their styles and prices so that we have something for everyone! No hidden agenda, no pressure to hire the professionals, just a safe haven to get ideas, advice, and referrals for your wedding. From TomKat's photographer to Kevin Costner's videographer and the eco and budget-friendly new and nearly new couture company, our group, well, let's just say the kick a**! If we wouldn't hire them for our own weddings, we wouldn't represent them.

The Bridal Bar on The Girls Next Door

So remember way back when we shared a few behind the scenes photos of our shoot for the Girls Next Door?!?! Well this past weekend the episode aired (and will continue to re-air for weeks to come so be sure to check it out)! Believe it or not, we have yet to see the segment, but the emails about those gorgeous gowns are flooding in. So to answer your question - where do you find those gowns?!?!? They are from Encore Bridal. Julie and her team will take great care of you!! Bunny or not :)The yummy cake was from the fabulous Fantasy Frostings and the flowers by the talented Eddie from Tic Tock.The gals left with rhinestone tanks by Weddingish, and of course all the amazing Bridal Bar vendors are in our stores and online. The Bride's Guide

So it's rare that you will see me (the author) on this site...but I couldn't resist sharing this post from the fabulous Darcy Miller (weddings editor of Martha Stewart Weddings). Not only does she juggle her family, her tv and radio appearances, and the magazine, but she writes the blog staple, The Bride's Guide. I had the enormous pleasure of spending some time with her while in NYC with the gang from Get Married. And over the weekend, Darcy blogged about our visit! We caught up at the tabletop market where the magazine displayed a live demo of their newest cover (and Martha herself even came by to take a look). We Mean Business

A few months back The Bridal Bar had a visit from the original Apprentice himself, Bill Rancic and his team. Bill is hosting a new A&E show called We Mean Business. He's making over struggling stores that have a lot of potential and while he didn't make us over, we were part of the process to help get Berry Elegance back on its feet. Our fabulous Kristen took this one on her own and met with the owners and the makeover crew to help bring their brand back to life. Check out the full episode and makeover online at A&E. Clearly a busy gal, we had no idea how fabulously fashionable and cutting-edge wedding photography could be! Congrats Laura!

Moulin Rouge Meets Wedding Day Romance

Check out this great spread from the new YWD Magazine issue. NancyKay Confections designed this stunning sugary treat for the spread. We just love the idea of a shoe cake topper mixed with the pattern printed on the fondant. Gorgeous!

What a Wedding in LA Weddings

We just had to share this spread, this wedding took place on the Malibu Pier (which is almost unheard of and impossible to get). The lovely and talented Lisa Gorjestani from Details Event Planning designed and orchestrated this themed-to-perfection fete. And the wonderful Jenny Stafford from Red Loft Studios took these amazing pics. This event left no detail undone. From the star fish filled cylinders to the anchor and pinstriped coasters, flip flops for the guests, polka dot flags atop the cookie tower, and bride and groom wardrobe that fit the theme perfectly. Besides the incredible setting - a clear tent under the stars and over the Pacific Ocean, the guests enjoyed a fabulous evening in this nautical wonderland. What a wedding! We hope you enjoy...

More YWD!

Your Wedding Day Magazine has not only covered some of the best folks in the biz (okay so we are a bit bias with our bridal bar vendors), but they have also covered the cause close to my heart - Heart 4 Africa. YWD is bringing to light the kids' cause with a FOUR page article about our trip to Kenya this past spring. Thank you YWD! It means the world to more people than you know and will do a world of good! Check out their smiling faces...

E! - Carlafornia

The Bridal Bar has gone international - sort of :). We had a visit last week from E! Canada who was in town shooting a new reality show called "Carlafornia." The show follows a Canadian actress who moves to America and marries Hollywood royalty. Carla and crew came by for a visit and bit of green wedding planning. She LOVED the new and nearly new couture of Encore Bridal has to offer (and eco-friendly too)...Plus the organic, fresh lemon and other yummy flavors of Fantasy Frostings organic cake options. And who could forget Tic Tock eco-friendly arrangement...locally-grown organic blooms like echinacea, structured within a glass vase placed inside the wooden container (to avoid using oasis, a not-so earth-friendly floral product).Stay tuned, Carlafornia may be coming to E! in the states too!

Recap from Africa

Earlier this year I had the incredible pleasure of going to Kenya with twelve other event professionals to work in an orphanage and help better the lives of some amazing kids. And now the TV show on Lifetime, Get Married has honored the kids and our trip with a recap for their national audience. Thank you for helping spread the word about this incredible cause! I have soooo much respect for media outlets (especially bridal) that can think outside the box and share with their audiences something a bit different, but something that makes all the difference in the world!

NBC's Kath & Kim

The Bridal Bar and several of our fabulous vendors got to take part in an episode of a new sitcom coming to NBC this Fall. Kath & Kim is an Aussie comedy that's coming to the US starring Molly Shannon and Selma Blair. The show will air after The Office on Thursday nights starting October 9th so be sure to tune in! We were asked to consult on the show as a main topic throughout the first season is a wedding. We can't say much more than that just yet, but check out what you will see from The Bridal Bar in the second episode...and stay tuned to the show and our blog for all the fun bridal surprises!

Lips and Locks in Brides!

Congratulations to Sheree Pouls of Lips and Locks for being selected on a panel of beauty experts to weigh in on her favs for brides across the country. Her tips and trade secrets are currently running in all sixteen local market issues of Brides Magazine. Way to go!





What were some of her inside secrets? Sheree loves Tarte Cheek Stain to create that "dewy blushing bride" look that shows up great on film.

She also recommends not touching up with powder when you feel like you're getting a little greasy (it can actually make you worse by adding more oil to the skin). Instead use blotting paper to remove excess oil and avoid looking like a chalky mess.
