Mile High Wedding

You think finding the perfect venue is tough? What about an airplane?? Yes, you read right, and to prove it, we've got it all documented - thanks to Robert Evans and his crew. Last week Sir Richard Branson boarded a new Virgin America plane for the madden voyage from San Fran to Vegas. Not so unusual - but the entertainment on the plane sure was. With a bride and groom, their families and friends, and plenty of media, this plane became a wedding chapel at 35,000 feet!

From walking down the airplane aisle to Vegas show girls and cake upon arrival at the terminal, this was anything but a cookie cutter wedding. Branson officiated in full costume and over the flight attendant intercom. He smashed the groom in the face with the top tier of the wedding cake, and a reception like no other was later held at the chic Wynn Hotel and Casino.

How on earth (or above earth) did Robert Evans manage to capture such great shots in such a tiny space? Do you think the wedding video was the in-flight movie? And what did guests toss? Peanuts?

More Bling, More Comfort, and We Want More!!

We've discovered another "gem" in the wedding business. And they've got some serious gems! Artyce Designs creates custom shoes - runway, red carpet, down the aisle, or down to the beach. All have some major bling going on, but without the pain. Artyce Designs customs builds shoes from the sole up. How big of a heel do you want? Short groom? Not a problem! How comfortable and padded should they be? Up to you! Material? Color? Bling? Again, all up to you! From strappy sandals to sexy mules, they make and you take. Check out their store here in Los Angeles (or their website) and they will help you design the perfect pair. In less than a month, your ruby slippers will be at your door step. Our favorite? A blue sole for your "something blue."

We Love Bling!

We love bling so much that we just had to share these fun little gadgets with you. Yes, that's right...gadgets! Computer geek no more, flash drives come in high fashion now!

Swarovski Crystal and Phillips Electronics have teamed up to create a line of Active Crystals. These functional little accessories make work not so mundane (and make showing off your wedding photos a lot easier). Great gifts for maids or for a loved one; put out a little extra effort and save your wedding images to the drive for mom before she opens your gift. She'll LOVE it!

Calling All Fall Brides!

We've got a wedding show casting for you! If you are getting married this month or next (October or November 2007) in the Southern California area and want your wedding captured on tv then check this out...

Asylum Entertainment is currently producing a wedding reality show (similar to TLC’s: A Wedding Story) in which a documentary crew explores what couples go through during the wedding process. Each episode takes the viewer on a dramatic, romantic and often humorous ride into one charming couple’s journey to the altar. Our objective is to share the hard work, planning, and sometimes pandemonium that comes with such a special day – while preserving the fun and romance inherent in any wedding. The show has been on the air for 9 seasons and it is NOT meant to be a “Bridezilla” type of show.

To submit your wedding to the producers or for questions about the show, please contact the following:

Grant Stuppel

Men in Skirts

Ever wonder where to get those great bagpipers to serenade you down the aisle? Want a little of your heritage in your ceremony? Then look no further! We have stumbled upon a local team of Celtic rockers...John McLean Allan (Scottish born of course) and the Stand Easy Band can rock your world and your wedding.

Think they sound familiar? They probably do. John has performed on such soundtracks as "Million Dollar Baby," "Open Season," "Austin Powers 2," "West Wing," "Primary Colors," "Judging Amy," "Sleeper Cell," "National Security," and oodles of others.

So should you find them at your wedding, do us a favor and ask your maids to answer the age old question: What do they wear under those kilts??

Shoes, Shoes, Oh Wonderful Shoes

The Bridal Bar's blog topic this week over on Bride-O-Rama was about the cost and comfort of bridal shoes. While conducting our little research experiment we were inspired to find some of our favorite shoes (or lack there of) photos from of course our favorite photographers. The best part about them all? The individuality that shines through with each photographer; capturing such different angles, lights, and shoes for that matter. You can really see the personality of a photographer by "their shoes" (or so we've decided.)

For your viewing (and walking) pleasure...

Bridal Bar Vendors are InStyle!

We just picked up the newest issue of InStyle Weddings and how fun it is to read about so many of our favorite vendors in one of our favorite bridal mags!

Lisa Gorjestani, owner and event planner at Details Event Planning has a FOUR PAGE spread with her tips and trends for party planning!! Check out the "10 tips from a celebrity planner" section where she suggests:

1. Make a simple yet eye-popping design statement by varying the palette from one table to the next.

2. Forgo the racy garter in favor of 'something blue' that's charmingly discreet.

3. Embellish the ceremony space with unexpected touches.

4. Create an outdoor lounge that feels like a living room.

5. Show your attendants you care with a personal touch.

6. Rein in wide-open spaces with garden and architectural accents.

7. Give the youngest guest a reason to enjoy the party too.

8. Skip the childhood slide show and hang photos instead.

9. Consider a surprising setting for exchanging vows.

10. Serve food and drinks that celebrate your heritage.

Then Hello! Lucky Invitations received a full page on one of their latest design palettes!Continue to the celebrity weddings in the back of the mag and you'll find a simple elegant butter cream cake by Fantasy Frostings for actress Busy Phillips' wedding.Pick up your new issue soon before they're gone!!
